Amy Cain (Revolve Co-Director)was born in Jacksonville, Florida and grew up in The Woodlands/Spring area of Texas. Her 28 years of dance training include working with various instructors and choreographers in Houston from Dominic Walsh Dance Theater, Ad Deum Dance Company, and Houston Ballet, along with Steven Boyd and others from New York and California. She has also been coached privately and been inspired for most of her dance career by Ken McCulloch, co-owner of NHPA™. Amy is in her 18th year of partnership in directing NHPA™, named one of the “Top 50 Studios On the Move” by Dance Teacher Magazine in 2006, and is also a founding member and co-Director of Revolve Dance Company, NHPA™’s resident professional company. Additionally, Amy is on staff at Houston Ballet as a jazz instructor, and at Masters, Upper Level as a ballet and lyrical instructor. Amy has had two articles written and published about her teaching and the success of NHPA™ by Dance Teacher Magazine: "High Five with Amy Cain" (2011), and "Up Close with Amy Cain" (2012). At NHPA™'s 2012 Recital Amy celebrated her 20th year of instructing students in the art of dance. Performance credits include tours nationwide, as well as to Spain and Italy. She has danced professionally with Dominic Walsh Dance Theater, performing leading roles in outstanding contemporary works by Dominic Walsh of Houston; Mauro Bigonzetti, Michele Merola, and Enrico Morelli of Italy; and Gustavo Ramirez Sansano of Spain. Additionally, she has done guest performances for Dance Houston as well as Amy Ell's Vault. Choreographically, Amy has presented new works on Revolve Dance Company at events including the Houston JCC’s “Choreographers X 6” and “Triple Focus” concerts, Texas Weekend of Contemporary Dance, Power of Movement, Dance Houston, Dance of Asian America’s East Meets West, Big Range Dance Festival, and the International Dance Meeting in Tropea, Italy. She has also set choreography on dancers at NHPA™, and for studios across Texas, that have earned top honors at numerous regional and national competitions. Amy has recently ventured into choreographing and performing in various operas including the multicultural production of Dido and Aeneas (2011) and the Song and Dance concert (2012) at the Baroque Music Festival in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, as well as the Houston premiere of Bernstein's MASS (2012).
Dawn Dippel (Revolve Co-Director)has been dancing most of her life and is now co-owner of NHPA™, co-Director and founding member of Revolve Dance Company, and a former member of the Dominic Walsh Dance Theatre. She grew up in the Houston area, graduated from Houston’s High School for the Performing & Visual Arts Dance Department, and since then has been training in and outside of Houston. Dawn’s works for Revolve Dance Company have been showcased at many of Houston’s various local events including Dance Houston, Texas Weekend of Contemporary Dance, Triple Focus, Choreographers X 6, and Dance of Asian America. In 2008 Revolve Dance Co. received an artistic achievement award from Dance Houston for her work. Dawn has performed leading roles in works by Dominic Walsh including Aurora in Sleeping Beauty, Love Intr-fear, Dolcemente, Amadeus, and Titus. She also had the opportunity to perform the U.S. premiere of Mauro Bigonzeti’s acclaimed Pression, and work with international choreographers Michele Merola & Gustavo Ramirez Sansano while a member of DWDT. In the January 2008 issue of Dance Magazine she was named as one of “25 to Watch” for up and coming artists across the country, and was recently named on of Houston's 100 Creatives by the Houston Press. Dawn has spent many years working beside many talented & professional artists who have been an influence and inspiration in her journey of this art.
Allison Stanley (Revolve founding member)was born in Houston, Texas and started her dance training at the age of 7. She began her training with Paula Abbott of Abbott’s Performing Arts Center and then at age 12 continued her training with North Harris Performing Arts in Spring, TX under the instruction of Ken McCulloch, Amy Cain, and Dawn Dippel. Allison’s training also includes working with Fred Strobel, Naomi Glass, Damian Schwiethale, and Barbara Bears of Houston Ballet, Randall Flinn of Ad Deum Dance Company, Wes Veldink of the Wes Veldink Movement and other teachers and choreographers from Los Angeles and New York. She was also invited to dance in Tropea, Italy at the Calabriarte Danza International Dance Meeting in 2004. Allison has been co-owner of NHPA™ dance studio for twelve years now, is currently setting choreography on the NHPA™ Dance Company, and is dancing professionally with Revolve Dance Company. Her most recent performances with Revolve Dance Company include: Texas Weekend of Contemporary Dance (2010), Revolve's "In Concert" (2011), Dance Houston's City-Wide Dance Festival (2012), and Dance of Asian America's East Meets West (2012).
Matt Dippel (choreographer, Revolve founding member)was born in Houston, Texas and began his dance training at North Harris Performing Arts at the age of 7. During his more than 15 years of training and exploring in the arts he has worked with such instructors/choreographers as Wes Veldink from The Wes Veldink Movement; Barbara Bears, Naomi Glass, Damian Schwiethale, and Fred Strobel of Houston Ballet; Randall Flinn of Ad Deum Dance Company; numerous other teachers from New York and L.A., and has performed onstage with the Latin percussion group Mayan Kingz from Las Vegas. In 2002 Matt performed in the Magic Company at the performing Arts Center in L.A. and was offered representation by the Dorothy Day Otis Talent Agency. He has performed as a guest artist with Amy Ell's Vault, Ad Deum Dance Company, Dance Houston, and in Dominic Walsh Dance Theater's "Made In Italy", "Sleeping Beauty", and in the PBS documentary "The Last 24". Currently Matt is working as a teacher & choreographer at NHPA™.
Jennifer Stricklin (Revolve founding member)was born in Houston, Texas and began her training in Ballet, Tap, and Jazz with Lori Sharpless of Lori’s Dance Studio. At the age of 12 she started training at North Harris Performing Arts with Amy Cain, Dawn Dippel, and Ken McCulloch. Jennifer graduated from Houston’s High School for the Performing & Visual Arts dance department and now has her Associate of Arts Degree in Business, and Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Houston Downtown. She has had the opportunity to work with such instructors/choreographers as Wes Veldink of the Wes Veldink Movement; Barbara Bears, Naomi Glass, Damian Schwiethale, and Fred Strobel of Houston Ballet; Randall Flinn of Ad Deum Dance Company, and many others. As a member of Revolve Dance Company, Jennifer has performed at Project Dance New York, numerous concerts with Ad Deum Dance Company, several festivals in Houston including Big Range Dance Festival, Choreographers X 6, Dance Houston, and Texas Weekend of Contemporary Dance. She has also performed with Revolve at The International Dance Meeting in Tropea, Italy (2004). Jennifer has taught classes for The Woodlands Dance Force and Tracey's Dance Company, and is currently co-owner and the main instructor at NHPA™'s satellite location in East Houston, NHPA™ II.
Jane Thayer (Revolve dancer, seamstress)was born in Joliet, Illinois and grew up in Spring, TX where she began her dance training at NHPA™ in 1995 under the instruction of Amy Cain, Dawn Dippel, and Ken McCulloch, who have been and still are her artistic mentors through the art of dance. Jane has also had the opportunity to work with other choreographers/teachers in the Houston area such as: Fred Strobel, Barbara Bears, Naomi Glass, Damian Schwiethale, and Clara Cravey of Houston Ballet, Randall Flinn of Ad Deum Dance Company. Others include Wes Veldink, Jason Parsons, Natsuo, Malaya, Mandy Moore and Ryan Heffington (from New York and L.A.), and Yung Woo of Korea. She has performed in Revolve Dance Company's concerts since their premiere in 2005, as well as in Ad Deum Dance Company's "Mystery and Miracle" in 2007. Jane has been a full-time member of Revolve for 3 years, and recently received her degree in Theatrical Costume Design which has provided her with opportunities to do seamstress work for iMEE, and to work with Dominic Walsh Dance Theater as a seamstress and Wardrobe mistress for several productions. She has also been the resident costume designer and seamstress for NHPA™ Dance Company and Revolve Dance Company for the past 7 years, and is a core instructor at NHPA™.
Wesley Cordova (Revolve dancer)grew up in Japan, California, and Conroe, Texas, and began his dance training at the age of eight. At at the age of 12, he joined North Harris Performing Arts studying with Ken McCulloch, Amy Cain, Dawn Dippel, Jessica Thayer and Allison Stanley. Additionally, he has trained with Naomi Glass and Dawn Scannell of Houston Ballet, Wes Veldink of the Wes Veldink Movement in New York and Randall Flinn of Ad Deum Dance Company. He has also had the opportunity to dance at the “Edge Performing Arts Center”, in Los Angeles, and in the summers of 2009 & 2010, Wesley traveled to New York with the assistants and teachers of NHPA™ to study with renowned dance choreographers at Steps on Broadway and Broadway Dance Center. He still continues to train at NHPA™ and is now on staff as a teacher and choreographer. Wes has been an Apprentice in Revolve Dance Company since 2007, and become a full-time member in 2011. Wes has performed in the company’s annual concerts since 2007, the “Alice in Wonderland” production at the Memorial Herman Hospital Fundraiser Gala (2009), Dance of Asian America's East Meets West, and Dance Houston’s City-Wide Dance Festival.
Sarah Oakley (Revolve dancer), a native Californian, studied dance at the University of California, Irvine. She graduated with BFAs in Dance Choreography and Dance Performance, a minor in Educational Studies, and the Claire Trevor School of the Arts 2010 Award for Excellence in Choreography. She also performed as a member of Donald McKayle's Etude Ensemble. Sarah moved to Houston to dance as a trainee with Ad Deum Dance Company under the direction of Randall Flinn. In her second season, she was a founding member of Ad Deum II and worked with the company as a rehearsal director and choreographer. Sarah has since taught classes and choreographed for many schools and organizations around Houston, including Houston Ballet, The Alley Theatre Conservatory, Masterclass Dance Company, Bay Area Theatre and Voice Academy, Dance for Kidz, Chara Christian Dance Academy, and Divine Dance Academy. Sarah is currently a co-director of middle school dance at St. John's School and an instructor for Houston Ballet's Educational Outreach and After School Programs. She is in her 2nd season in dancing with Revolve.
Courtney Gigant (Revolve Apprentice) trained for three years at North Harris Performing Arts prior to joining Revolve Dance Company. In addition to teaching and assisting at NHPA™, Courtney works as an independent graphic designer for Thrive Strategies. Currently, she is completing her first year at the University of Houston where she is pursuing a degree in business.
